Carroll County, Missouri jury returns defense verdict in fire case

In September 2012, Suzanne Bruss received a defense verdict in a negligence case against a Missouri electrician brought by a pallet factory when its building was destroyed by fire. The pallet factory maintained that the electrician had either damaged or over bent wires in the main electrical panel which had caused a fire three and a half years later. Suzanne offered evidence that the shape of the wires observed after the fire occurred as a result of the fire and not during installation and offered evidence that the fire originated elsewhere in the building. The plaintiff sought $891,000 in damages because of the fire. The jury delivered a unanimous defense verdict.
