Upon graduating law school, Chesney was a law clerk to the Honorable J. Dale Youngs for two years. She had the unique experience of assisting the Court with all aspects of more than fifteen jury trials from the perspective of the judiciary giving her the rare insight into all aspects of jury trials.

Prior to joining the firm, she practiced in a variety of areas of the law, primarily in civil litigation defense. Additionally, she has taken on numerous family court appointments representing parents. She also has served as a guardian ad litem.
Ms. Thompson earned her B.S. in International Business with a minor in Spanish from the University of Denver. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law. While in law school, she discovered her passion for being in the courtroom through international law moot court competitions across the country.  She practiced her trial skills through the youth advocacy clinic representing young adults in several municipalities across Saint Louis County and with her peers who lobbied the state of Missouri to make changes to the municipal court systems to ensure fair and equitable processes for all. Additionally, she was elected by her peers and professors to serve as one of three judges for the school’s honor council and was responsible for overseeing investigations and appropriate resolutions for violations of the school’s code of conduct policies. She earned an academic excellence award in recognition of receiving the highest score in Legal Ethics. She was an intern for the Honorable Judge Welsh of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District throughout law school.

Chesney has always found joy in giving back to her community. As a high school student, she was a dedicated volunteer at the University of Kansas Hospital all four years. Over her college summer breaks, she helped to design a swim program for Operation Breakthrough, teaching lifesaving swimming skills to children unfamiliar with open water.
She is an active member of KCMBA and served on the board of the young lawyers section for six years as the chair for the public service committee. She regularly volunteers to judge local high school and collegiate debate and trial competitions. Through the Missouri Bar’s Constitution Day program, she has volunteered to give presentations to elementary students on the Constitution and its important role in the judicial system.

Outside of practicing law, Chesney enjoys needlepointing, gardening and spending time with her family. She currently serves on the board of the Medical Missions Foundation, a local nonprofit she has been involved with since high school.
