Cooper & Halloran Win Trial to Avoid Nuclear Verdict in Fatal Trucking Accident Case
06/19/2025On December 21, 2018, a disabled car was struck by two trucks on I-435 in Jackson County Missouri. A woman in the car died as a result of the accident. FSM defended the trucking company and driver for the second truck in a dramatic Jackson County trial, which was held in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. With the help of an accident reconstruction expert, a biomechanical engineer, and a doctor, Charles Cooper and Mike Halloran were able to show the jury that the second truck did not contribute to the woman’s death. Plaintiffs asked for $10,500,000. But the jury rendered their verdict in favor of the defendants.
