Federal Court Grants Summary Judgment to Home Developer on Copyright Infringement Case

10/11/2019
The United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri granted summary judgment in favor of a home developer in a copyright infringement case where Plaintiffs alleged that the developer infringed on Plaintiffs' copyrighted home designs. Suit was filed against several architectural firms and home developers. The Defendants argued summary judgment was appropriate because Plaintiffs failed to establish access to their works and substantial similarity, and the Court ultimately agreed. The home developer was represented by FSM partners Nikki Cannezzaro and Matthew Clifford.  Designworks Homes, Inc. v. Thomson Homes, LLC, et al., United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Case No. 4:18-cv-00189-SRB.
