Monica M Derbes
Associate
Monica Derbes concentrates her practice on personal injury litigation defense, insurance coverage, and general civil defense. Before coming to Franke Schultz & Mullen, P.C., Monica served as a law clerk in the 16th Circuit Court of Jackson County, where she assisted Judges in managing civil, domestic, criminal, and probate cases. During her time as a clerk, she witnessed many jury trials, which gave her insight into how trials are run, what strategies work, and what strategies will backfire.
While in law school, Monica served as a teaching assistant in the Lawyering Skills program, and a research assistant to Professor Judy Popper. In these positions, she drafted model papers, communicated complex issues to first-year law students, and lead workshops in legal research and writing.
Monica lives in Roeland Park, KS and works in the firm’s Kanas City office.
