Plaintiff, female, age 82, alleged that while she was a resident at defendant University Forest Nursing Care Center, the staff failed to adequately change her positions to prevent pressure sore ulcers from forming. Also, she suffered from dehydration and septicemia, causing her to be hospitalized for about six weeks and requiring a surgical flap to remedy the pressure sore that would not heal. Defendant University Forest denied plaintiff’s allegations and contended that she received proper care while in its facility.

Damages Alleged: Development of pressure sore on her buttock that resisted healing, dehydration, septicemia, required six week hospitalization (medical specials: $46,000).
