Federal Judge Grants Summary Judgment to Insurer

John Schultz and Suzanne Bruss obtained a summary judgment in favor of their client, United Fire & Casualty Company, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri in an insurance coverage case. The court held that injuries occurring to an employee on the job were not covered by the company’s commercial general liability policy due to the workers’ compensation and employer’s liability exclusions. The ruling helps protect commercial general liability carriers in Missouri from being asked to pay for injuries which are generally covered by workers’compensation policies.
