Wendell E. Koerner, Member

Mr. Koerner has extensive trial experience in insurance defense litigation, including insurance coverage matters, with emphases in medical malpractice, products liability, and libel cases.  He has tried cases throughout Western and Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas in both state and federal courts representing doctors, hospitals, manufacturers and news media.  Mr. Koerner has spoken frequently at trial practice seminars for The Missouri Bar, the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, WestMo Defense Lawyers Association, the St. Joseph Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and for DRI.  He also has presented lectures to the Northwest Missouri Press Association, the Media Law Committee of The Missouri Bar and the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas.

Mr. Koerner received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Law Review and The Order of The Coif.  He is a member of The Missouri Bar and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  Mr. Koerner received the Lon O. Hocker Memorial Trial Lawyer Award in 1973.  He is a Past President of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers and of the St. Joseph Bar Association, a former member of the Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar and its Executive Committee, a former member of the Federal Practice Committee of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
